Canning River Regional Park - morning excursion

For BLWA members and their guests. Members of the public are welcome to join the walk (bring binoculars).

Meet at 7.30 am at the Kent Street Weir car park. The walk follows a 5 km circuit along the Canning River, viewing a large selection of bush and waterbirds. Over 110 species have been recorded in this area. Commonly observed waterbirds include: cormorants, swamphens, ibis, pelican, egret, ducks and spoonbills.
First set aside for public use in the 19th century, today the park consists of large areas of parkland and extensive wetlands managed for the protection of biodiversity.
Bring a chair and morning tea to have while we do a combined bird list.
After morning tea, for those who are interested, we will walk a short distance of 400 m to Wilson Park to look for more waterbirds.
