# Event Details - **Event Name**: Full Moon Hike - **Event Start and End Date**: Thu, 10 Jul, 2025 at 08:00 pm – Thu, 10 Jul, 2025 at 10:00 pm - **Event Description**: Enjoy the wonder of hiking under a full moon!About this EventExperience nighttime hiking under the full moon under the guidance of an Interpretive Ranger. This hike will begin with fading daylight allowing for our eyes to adjust. As the sun sets at 8:36 p.m. and the moon takes over, nocturnal creatures begin to stir. We will be on the lookout for the creatures pollinating in the dark. One may witness bats pass overhead, hear or see an owl, or perhaps spy a racoon. Discussion will include information about the nighttime ecosystem and some fun facts about night creatures that make the forest and meadow their homes.What to Expect: This hike will cover both meadow and forested areas for approximately 2 miles. Trail surfaces are at times uneven with some elevation changes and may contain tree roots and rocks. There is a port-a-john on site. This event is recommended for ages 10 and up (participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult).What to Bring: Sturdy, closed toe shoes are highly recommended. Bring water and a snack. Binoculars are optional. Hiking poles can be very helpful. Head lamps are required, but we will have a few to loan out if you do not have one. Red lensed flashlights/headlamps are preferred if using a light.Event Leader Bio: Mary Patterson is an Interpretive Ranger with the Lancaster Conservancy. She is passionate about wildflowers, butterflies and all the wonderful things that can be discovered outside. Keenly in tune to the herbaceous plants that keep meadows and forest floors interesting, Mary also leads the local Susquehanna Nature Journal Club and is an active PA Master Naturalist.Animal Policy: Service animals active or in training are welcome. Please leave all pets at home.Refund Policy: If you are unable to attend this event after purchasing a ticket, refund requests must be made at least 48 hours before the event.Cancellation Policy: This event will be held rain or shine, with cancellation for severe weather made at the time of the event. If the Conservancy reschedules the event, attendees will be emailed, and tickets will be automatically moved to the new date.
