Presented by the Education Committee
Hosted By Rose Blume

Saturday, July 25th 1:00P - 3:00P
Location: Corn Stock Theatre Center

This is a FREE Workshop for anyone and everyone that participates in our theater community that wants to learn more about the discipline of intimacy coordination and its role in community theater productions. Please be advised that we will discuss staged intimacy, so any patrons under the age of 18 are welcome as long as they have a guardian in attendance with them and are respectful throughout the workshop. NO CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE WILL BE PROVIDED BY THIS WORKSHOP.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
This workshop is designed to introduce community members to consent advocacy in rehearsal spaces. We will discuss power hierarchy in a production process, agency and how to uplift your actors and production team to build trust, and how to respectfully navigate when a boundary is set during a rehearsal.

We will cover a brief overview of Intimacy Coordination and where it stands in the overall entertainment market, and how those in attendance can access more information and even steps toward certification/licensure.

No one needs any prior knowledge to this workshop, but coming with an idea of personal boundaries is a great place to start, as we will be discussing boundaries to the point at which people feel comfortable doing so. This will be in the context of finding empathy with others’ boundaries and reframing how we feel about consent in a rehearsal space.

We will be doing a handful of exercises, all dependent on willingness to participate. It is a workshop about consent in the rehearsal space after all! These exercises will not be physically demanding, only requirements will be willingness to complete verbal exercise while some of participants observe. Other exercises will be open and encouraged by participation of the entire group.

WHAT TO BRING:
No materials will be required for participants to bring, but participants may want to bring a notebook/pen/paper/pencil for note taking. Rose will be handing out a guide at the end with information as to how to explore staged intimacy further.
