On Thursday, October 9th, 2025, the Peoria County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly member meeting at the Peoria Public Library North Branch to hear from Aaron Comte, director of Springdale Cemetery & Mausoleum, and Brian “Fox” Ellis, storyteller and author. Their program is entitled: History of Springdale Cemetery. They will be joining us in person. Participants may attend via Zoom or in person.
Join us for a unique evening of discussion and drama as we learn about the history of Peoria’s Springdale Cemetery. General Manager Aaron Comte will highlight the cemetery’s resources to aid your research, while local storyteller Brian “Fox” Ellis will bring history to life with his theatrical storytelling, promoting Springdale’s fall tours.
We’ll also explore how technology and storytelling help preserve the stories of our community for future generations. Meet some of the characters buried in Springdale Cemetery in this first-person performance as Brian steps into multiple roles to tell the true stories of Peoria’s past.
About the Presenters
Aaron Comte became the director of Springdale Cemetery & Mausoleum in late 2024. With family roots in Peoria funeral service dating back to the mid-1800s, his passion for historic preservation and education underscores Springdale’s standing as one of the finest cemeteries in the Midwest.
Brian “Fox” Ellis is an internationally renowned storyteller, author of 32 books, and creator of the Springdale Cemetery Historic Walking Tours, which he has hosted for more than 25 years on the first two weekends in October.
Free and open to the public.
