This is not a club run event, but its run by a couple of members of two clubs who are keen to sail on different bodies of water, Ullswater is a great body of water for this. As this isn't run by the club sailors who wish to sail must be at the standard of RYA Better Sailing (Level 2.
Interested people must sort their own boats out, there may be chance for some people who don't own boats to crew but is dependent on the people going.
There will be some safety cover for the weekend, this will be provided by George Pand a few other and will be George's RIB, however this is up to George who uses the RIB.
The weekend usual itinerary for the weekend is as follows:
Friday Day Time-Set up camp and Chilled leisurely sail at own pace
Friday evening - Stroll in to Pooley Bridge for a Pub Dinner
Saturday Day Time - Group Sail potentially down the length of the lake
(Weather Dependent)
Saturday Evening - Group BBQ, bring your own food and possibly a couple of extra BBQ's required.
Sunday-Leisurely sail/possible private race before travelling home.
The campsite that use is Parkfoot Campsite which is located at the Pooley Bridge end of the lake, if you camp on the Lakeside or Euseriggs fields you have the option when you book to bring a boat, this is charged at f5 a night, but includes everything you need to get on the water.
The slip way is about a 250m walk away from the campsite, but the majority is a tarmac road which leads down to the waters edge.
If your interested in joining us next year please speak to George Panter and he'll be more than happy to talk about the weekend with you.
