The aim of the course is to give participants a basic introduction to dry stone walling. Content varies but concentrates on placing stone on stone and letting you see if you want to further the craft with a longer course. It will include some or all of dismantling a wall and relaying the wall up to the coping (top stones). It is held on the dedicated Dry Stone Walling site at Newton Rigg College, Penrith.

All courses are practical and are held outside at Newton Rigg College campus, regardless of weather, so dress appropriately, and wear stout boots (hiking boots/toecaps) and you may wish to bring your own gloves.

The minimum age for participants is 16, but there are no upper age limits. However please be aware the training course has physical demands and requires the carrying and movement of stones.

Course Duration: 1 day course taking place from 10am - 3pm approx.

PPE Requirements: The following will need to be brought by all delegates participating in the course:

Steel toe cap boots,
Stout shoes
Work gloves,
Waterproofs
