Our popular child car seat safety checks are back! Penrith residents can book in for a 15-minute safety check with an authorised child restraint fitter.

About the sessions
Date: Saturday 2 November 2024 and Saturday 15 March 2025
Time: 8.30am-11.30am

The fittings will occur at Penrith City Council’s Civic Centre’s turning circle (just outside Penrith City Library). 601 High Street, Penrith. Appointments will be required to participate.

Australian law requires children travelling in cars to be secured in approved restraints, which means children:

* younger than 6 months must be secured in a rear-facing restraint
*6 months to 4 years must be secured in a rear or forward-facing restraint
*4-7 years must be secured in a forward-facing restraint or booster seat
*younger than 4 years must travel in the back seat of a vehicle with two or more rows.

That’s why we’re offering free safety checks to ensure your little ones are travelling securely and safely in your cars.

What should I bring along?
Please bring gated buckle straps or other accessories that came with the child restraint.

If you’re feeling unwell
If you feel unwell, have cold or flu symptoms, please cancel your appointment. The health and safety of our youngest and most vulnerable road users is very important. If you are sick, please stay at home.

How to book
Bookings are essential to ensure you are seen on the day. To reserve your timeslot, contact our Road Safety Officer via Y291bmNpbCB8IHBlbnJpdGggISBjaXR5 or 4732 7777 with your contact details, including the number of child restraints to be inspected and your preferred date.

Child Restraint checks are free but if you require extra hardware to secure your car seat (buckles, straps) this will be at your own cost and paid directly to the authorised child restraint fitter on the day.

These days are not open to Family Day Carers.
