The oldest way to look at yoga can be through stories through myth and this story reveals to us that yoga is life, yoga is in us all the time waiting for us to feel it, to come back home.

So who are Shiva & Shakti? What do they represent?

Shiva is the masculine principle and represents pure unchanging consciousness, (the stillness) an unchanging awareness that is always there.

Shakti is the feminine principle and represents energy, the force of creation she is the dance of life itself.  The flowing rivers, the roaring storms, the laughter, the tears, the heartbeat.

If Shiva is the sky then Shakti is the storm, the clouds, the sun rays.  If Shiva is the stillness of a tree trunk then Shakti is the branches that sway in the wind and offer flowers and fruits.

Life itself is yoga, always moving between stillness and change

During our yoga practice we will bring together stillness Shiva and movement Shakti, this duality comes together in balance into unity. When we think about our breath, when we inhale this is Shakti, the dance, the energy, the expansion, the movement.  When we exhale this is Shiva, the letting go, the coming back to stillness.  We need both we cant have one without the other and this is yoga bringing balance inside of us.

Structure of the day:

We will begin with the sharing of the love story of Shiva & Shakti and you will have the opportunity to ask questions following the story.

This will be followed by our yoga practice that will consist of flowing asanas, the breath and deep meditative relaxation that will revitalize, whilst at the same time move you deep into quiet and stillness, reflecting the story of the dance of Shiva & Shakti of the coming together of duality into unity, into relationship.  

The day will include a vegetarian lunch at 1.10pm (please let me know if you need gluten free food and this can be accommodated for) drinks and cake.

Cost:  £45

£10 deposit to book your space - Please book early as spaces are limited to 8
Please bring a yoga mat, a cushion, blanket and anything else that helps you feel comfortable and supported.  (if you dont have a mat or blanket you are welcome to use mats/blankets/blocks provided)

Please arrive 5 - 10 minutes early to settle into the space and make yourself a drink if you desire.
