- **Event Description**: Acceptance, Belonging & Community (ABC) sessions afford LGBTQ+ people and allies alike an opportunity to learn more about aspects of our community they may have questions about. 

This month, Jay Donahue joins us to discuss the queer experience in sports.  Queers have always been involved in organized sports and continue to subvert the stereotype of who is considered an athlete. Jay will talk about his personal experience of being a lifelong queer athlete, from his experience in youth sports to participation in NCAA Division I Cross Country/Track & Field to long distance running as recreational sport. We will hear from a couple of other queer athletes about their experiences through recorded interviews. Jay will also focus on the current climate for trans athletes and how that intersects with the larger repression of trans people. As we navigate the political landscape for people who exist outside the gender binary, from bathroom bills to control of identity documentation, sports present an opportunity to understand, and control, our own narrative.
