Experience the route he travelled each day as a 14-year-old boy, walking to and from work at Graiglwyd Quarry. This guided walk offers a unique insight into Huw Tom's early life, the quarrying communities that shaped him, and the spectacular landscapes and rich heritage of the uplands above Penmaenmawr.The walk will culminate at the former Willow Cafe, where you'll enjoy tea and cake. The cafe was once a popular tourism destination. It is now a private dwelling but the owners have kindly offered to cater for the end of the walk, and give you a glimpse into the past with old photos of the cafe. A unique nostalgia trip for many who remember it well!This is a linear walk and transport will be arranged to return to the museum. This will be via museum staff and volunteer cars.Duration: 6 hours (10am to 4pm)Distance: 6 miles (approx)Fitness level: moderate to fit - there is a steep road climb from Penmaenmawr, stiles and uneven ground to navigate during this mountain walk.
