XTERRA Appalachian Trail Fest – November 8, 2025

The XTERRA Appalachian Trail Fest features a 35K and 15K trail race on some of the toughest and most scenic terrain in Alabama. This event is an official qualifier for the XTERRA World Trail Run Championship, with 56 qualifying spots available.
Course Highlights
Runners will take on a route that includes Peavine Falls, backcountry singletrack, technical scrambles, the Alabama Wildlife Center’s Treetop Bird Tunnel, and newly opened sections of Oak Mountain State Park. It’s a course designed to test both speed and endurance while showcasing the park’s most striking features.
Family Hike & Scavenger Hunt
The Family Hike is a rolling start from 9 AM to 3 PM, starting at the Appalachian Festival grounds. The hike includes a scavenger hunt and interpretive stops, including the story of the Appalachiosaurus. Family Hike entry is free for all registered runners in the 35K and 15K.
Post-Race Festival
After the race, athletes and spectators can enjoy:
• Live bluegrass music
• Appalachian arts and crafts
• Traditional bread making and butter churning
• Food and drink vendors
