Queen of Hearts Raffle Rules
Approval: The Search for the Queen of Hearts is a weekly progressive raffle approved by Tazewell County.
Setup: 54 playing cards, including two jokers, are placed in sealed envelopes, face down on a mounting board. The envelopes are numbered 1 through 54. The game board, with the Queen of Hearts as the "Jackpot Card," will be displayed and sealed in the Bar Area.
Eligibility: Open to the public. Participants must be over 18 years old.
Ticket Prices: $5 per ticket or $20 for 5 tickets, with no limit on the number of tickets purchased. Multiple names can be on one ticket. Write your name and the number of the available card you’re requesting. Tickets can be purchased immediately after the drawing and up to 6:55 PM on the next drawing day (Thursday).
Drawings: Held at the Pekin Country Club Bar on Thursdays at 7:00 PM. One ticket is drawn each week to determine who gets to "Search for the Queen of Hearts." Non-winning tickets are discarded after each drawing. The pot grows weekly, and the odds of finding the Queen of Hearts increase as fewer cards remain.
Prize Pool: Determined before the raffle starts and accumulates weekly until the Queen of Hearts is found. The jackpot amount, based on ticket sales, is updated weekly and displayed in the Bar area. All ticket proceeds go into the jackpot.
Winning: If your name is drawn, the card number indicated will be flipped. If it’s the Queen of Hearts, you win 100% of the Jackpot (or 2/3 if not present). All other cards win a $100 gift certificate to the restaurant ($50 if not present).
Jackpot Calculation: Calculated before the drawing.
Taxes: Winners are responsible for any taxes. A W2-G (1099) will be issued for prizes over $600. No prize over $600 will be paid until the W2-G information is completed. If a player cannot provide W2-G information, the prize will start the next jackpot.
Identification: Winners must provide photo ID. Taxes will be assessed on prizes over $5,000 and remitted to the IRS. Out-of-state winners may have state taxes withheld according to their state laws.
Sales Proceeds: Proceeds from the current week’s sales are not included in the current week’s jackpot. If the Queen of Hearts is not selected, the sales are added to the next week’s jackpot. If the Queen of Hearts is drawn, 100% of that week’s sales fund the new jackpot.
