- **Event Description**: As part of celebrations for Blein ny Gaelgey, the Year of the Manx Language, Culture Vannin will be running a Manx language course through Irish at its annual Scoill Souree – Manx language Summer School for adults. The course has been designed for those who are new to Manx, or at an early beginner level, who approach learning as Irish-speakers and will take place between Tuesday 28th - Friday 31st July (9.30am - 1.15pm each day). 

Scoill Souree coincides with the wonderful Yn Chruinnaght Celtic Gathering festival, and both the summer school and festival will take place in the beautiful sea-side town of Peel. The festival offers wonderful performances of music and dance, and will also include an interceltic film night on Wednesday 29th July. Ceilis, workshops, talks and sessions are also a fixture of the festival, and there are many opportunities to practise your Manx!

The course will be delivered by Dr Natalie Nic Shim (Simpson), an Irish translator and Manx speaker. With a practical focus, the course will be interactive, with lots of opportunities to practise speaking and listening. The course lines up with transport links from both the north and south of Ireland.

Each course costs £150 per person; this includes tuition, learning materials, and light refreshments in breaks. A limited number of bursaries are available for students and anyone with low income on a first-come first-served basis. Though the courses are not accredited, a certificate of attendance will be presented to participants upon completion of the summer school.
