In the story, we meet Jinnee, a young woman grieving her mother, on St Stephen's Day, during hunt the wren. She catches a wren, an encounter that turns out to be much more than Jinnee had foreseen. The story explores feminist themes of freedom, coercion, and conformity as Jinnee wrestles with her own identity and the loss of her mother in the shadow of the story of the enigmatic enchantress, Tehi Tegi.

Caillagh is a one-act chamber opera created by a fantastic team:
Composer and Musical Director: Matthew Warren
Director: David Dawson
Translator/co-librettist: Bob Carswell
Language coach: Ruth Keggin-Gell
With outstanding professional performers: Hannah Andrusier (Jinnee), Sanea Singh (The Wren), and The Talland Quartet (ensemble).

The evening will open with pieces by fasntastic Isle of Man composers followed by the premiere of Caillagh.
