- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 18 Apr, 2026 at 08:30 am – Sat, 18 Apr, 2026 at 12:00 pm (-10:00)
- **Event Description**: Join us at Pearl Harbor National Memorial from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on April 18 to fold paper cranes in honor of Sadako Sasaki’s story, and to promote peace, remembrance, and hope.

Sadako was a young girl who survived the atomic bomb dropped on her hometown of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Although she initially appeared unharmed, she was later diagnosed with leukemia in 1954, caused by radiation exposure from the bomb.

During her hospitalization, Sadako folded more than 1,000 origami paper cranes, inspired by a Japanese legend that promises a wish to those who complete them. She hoped to recover, but passed away at the age of 12 on October 25, 1955.

Today, Sadako’s cranes have become a lasting symbol of peace and continue to inspire people around the world.
