About the event

Long Lunch Garden Concert
Welcome to our Long Lunch Garden Concert presented by Long Listen Festival 2026

Experience a long, slow Sunday lunch of music, food, conversation and connection, set in the stunning property Bahche, a farm-stay in Peachester, Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Join us to mark the first day of autumn in Queensland and St David’s Day, the Welsh national celebration of music, culture and storytelling, and a brand new venue partnership with Bahche for our 2026 festival program.

This intimate event brings together live chamber music, a shared long table, and the chance to support the future of Long Listen Festival and hear a sneak peak from our Artistic Director, Louise King of what is in the pipeline for our 2026 program in October.

Set against the beautiful grounds of Bahche, this is a curated, listening experience woven through a generous luscious long lunch, with artists performing beautiful music on harp and cello threaded through the event and sharing stories and inspiration behind the music along the way.

Our Concert Program:
Louise & Janice will perform a collection of our favourite music for cello and harp across two intimate sets in the garden with the audience seated, with a shared long table lunch as our culinary centrepiece.

1st March marks the first day of Autumn for us in Queensland and is also St David’s Day, the national day of Wales, celebrating its patron saint who died on this day in 589 AD. It is a vibrant cultural celebration marked by wearing leeks or daffodils, traditional parades in cities like Cardiff. Our guest harpist, Janice Preece is Welsh.

Our program features Classical French favourites including Le Cygne (The Swan) by Saint-Saëns, Gymnopedie by Satie, Promenade à l’automne by Marcel Tournier, Traditional Welsh folk music, and contemporary favourites such as Benedictus from the Armed Man by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins, and Golden Hour (JVKE).

About Our Artists: Louise and Janice have collaborated for over 20 years, recording three ABC classics albums together and performing at private and public events across Australia.

Louise King - cello: Artistic Director of Long Listen Festival and founder of Cello Dreaming, Louise is an award-winning English cellist whose career spans Europe, Asia and Australia. She has recorded 17 albums with labels including ABC Classics, and has performed everywhere from the Royal Albert Hall to regional halls and private homes. Louise is passionate about building community, mentoring creatives and connecting audiences to artists through thoughtful programming, and creating meaningful musical experiences beyond traditional city concert halls.

Janice Preece - harp: Born in Wales, the land of song, Janice is a celebrated harpist with an international career spanning orchestral, solo and chamber performance. A prizewinner at the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales and a signed ABC Classics artist, she has performed for royalty, governors, major institutions and festivals worldwide. Her playing brings warmth, heritage and extraordinary beauty to every setting.

About the Venue Bahche: Set in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Bahche is a serene farm stay designed around gardens, nature, and slow gathering. The name Bahche means garden, and this beautiful property invites you to linger among lush grounds, and sit by a peaceful bamboo arbour. Thoughtfully renovated with a focus on permaculture and sustainability, Bahche offers a calm, intimate setting where music, food, and conversation unfold. It’s a place to breathe deeply, listen closely, and share a long table moment surrounded by the beauty of the hinterland.
