C’est en 2007 que Bonny B. a concrétisé sa vision en créant un atelier de chant gospel-blues à la "Blue School" de Fribourg. Très vite, huit chanteurs s’inscrivent, et un lieu d’accueil est trouvé : l’église Sainte-Thérèse, dans le quartier de Torry, ouvre ses portes à ce nouveau projet.

Dès leurs débuts, ils se distinguent en introduisant à Fribourg le véritable style des negro spirituals-blues. À la fin de cette première année, le chœur compte déjà plus de 20 chanteuses et chanteurs : les Fri-Gospel Singers sont nés !

Depuis, le groupe s’est produit dans des centaines de concerts, festivals, mariages, enterrements, baptêmes et communions.
 
En 2019, le comité concrétise une étape importante : un album live est enregistré lors du concert de fin d’année à l’église du Christ-Roi à Fribourg.

Même pendant la pandémie, le chœur n’a jamais cessé de chanter. « “C’était important que nous continuions à chanter avec amour et sans avoir peur », confie Bonny B.

Depuis plus de 18 ans, les Fri-Gospel Singers font vibrer Fribourg au rythme du gospel et du blues. Unique en son genre, le chœur perpétue une tradition forte : chanter sans solfège, à l’image des ancêtres noirs, porteurs d’une mémoire vivante et profondément ancrée.

Chaque année, le chœur organise un grand concert en fin d’année, rassemblant un public fidèle et enthousiaste.
