All grown at altitude - from the terraced vineyards of the Italian Alps to a remote village in Yunnan, China at 3,000 metres above sea level. You'll taste a Malbec from Mendoza, a Chardonnay from Shangri-La, a red from the mountains of Crete, and wines from Savoie, the Jura, Alto Adige, and Rueda.No labels. No context. No clues.You'll score each wine on aroma, palate, and value - then rank them from least to most interesting. At the end of the evening, we reveal what you were drinking, where it came from, and how high up the mountain the grapes were grown.The results are usually surprising, sometimes even shocking.The wine that will stay with youThe highest wine on the table comes from Shangri-La, Yunnan - at 3,000 metres, among the highest vineyards in the world. It's made by FARMentation, one of China's most exciting natural wine projects, whose Syrah was recently ranked in the Top 10 Wines of China by James Suckling. Most people in Singapore have never tasted it. Most people who do don't forget it, but this won't be the only surprise of the evening.How the evening worksThe masterclass runs for approximately 1.5 hours. Wines are poured blind in flights. You'll have a score card to work through at your own pace, guided questions to keep the conversation going, and two hosts who know when to talk and when to get out of the way.At the reveal, we aggregate the group's rankings and compare them to the host's scores. Disagreements are encouraged.
