Back in 1984 pretty much right out of highschool i got to join my friend Mark Brazeau's band XLR8 on bass guitar. at the time i never played bass and didnt own a bass. These guys took a chance on me and my borrowed 3 string bass, helped me learn the songs for a 3 gig weekend. Such an amazing time with amazing musicians. i figured id do the gigs and be on my way. They actually asked me to do some more gigs and eventually it turned into 3 years of nonstop playing. The actual best years of my life with Johnny Rose, Mark brazeau and Dave Jackvony. After the band broke up we went our separate ways. we stayed in touch maybe once every couple of years. kinda sad but there was no Facebook, cell phones, text. Anyway back to the future. Dave has since passed and im sure is rocking away in heaven, I see Mark on occasion. i saw Johnny a couple of years ago and we talked about maybe doing an XLR8 reunion gig but it never happened with everybody having stuff going on in life. Last week just out of the blue i messaged Johnny to say hello, he told me he bought a bunch of guitars and wanted to play again. I invited him to join Betty and Myself march 20th at Quinns. So yes its happening! almost 40 years later i get to play music with my friend again and of course my musical mentor Betty Galligan. Might not be momentous for everybody but it is for me. Hope to see some people that remember XLR8. NO COVER CHARGE
