Purpose: A Film Showing at the Hall

Do we need a new economic system that considers much more than just growth?

On Wednesday 19th November we are showing the documentary film “Purpose” at the hall. Tom and Richard saw this inspiring film at an event in Dunbar earlier in the year. It charts the journey of Katherine Trebeck and Lorenzo Fioramonti between 2017 and 2020 in initiating the “Wellbing Economy Governments” initiative. Involving Scotland, New Zealand, Iceland, Wales and Finland this ambitious project tries to reshape how we think about the purpose of our economy. There are of course many setbacks on the way, but it is an stimulating story about those asking deeper questions and trying to widen the horizons of economics and politics.

The showing is free and there will be nibbles and wine available for a donation. Hope to see you there at 6.30pm for the film at 7pm.

The showing is organised by the Wellbeing Economies Alliance over Zoom, so there is also an opportunity for a Q&A with the director afterwards (if we can make the technology work!).
