- **Event Description**: Paterson was a documented “station” on the Underground Railroad, where local abolitionists took extraordinary risks to assist freedom seekers on their journey north to Canada. Among the most significant figures was industrialist Josiah P. Huntoon, whose home at Broadway and Bridge Street—known as “Huntoon’s Corner”—served as a vital link in the Underground Railroad. His efforts were part of a courageous, interracial network that included Black engineer William Van Rensalier and local leaders John and Harriet Kline and Henry and Mary Low.

This special program will also feature the unveiling of the City’s new Historic Marker Trail commemorating Paterson’s role in the Underground Railroad, formally recognizing the sites and individuals who shaped this powerful chapter in our shared history.

Presented by historians Jimmy Richardson and Flavia Alaya, along with Gianfranco Archimede, Executive Director of the Paterson Historic Preservation Commission. This lecture and marker unveiling are free and open to the public. Call 973-706-6640 to reserve your spot.
