A landmark of German Expressionist cinema and one of the first science fiction films ever made, Metropolis is set in a dystopian future where a wealthy elite lives in unimaginable luxury while the working masses labor beneath the city to sustain their way of life. Nearly a century after its release, the film's themes of class inequality, industrialization, and the relationship between technology and humanity remain as striking and relevant as ever. 

The screening will take place on Tuesday, September 15 at 6:30pm at The Plaza Cinema, 20 Terry Street, Patchogue. A $10 suggested donation is requested, and admission is free with a student ID. Running time is 2hr 28min with a a 15 min intermission. The event is presented by The Rag Times.
