- **Event Description**: The Velvet Ice Cream Ride is a Pelotonia Training Ride and Fundraiser presented by teamCOPC that will take place on Sunday, July 12, 2026.  This is a fully supported bicycle tour now starting and ending at LICKING HEIGHTS MIDDLE SCHOOL at Cable and Mink Streets, Pataskala, OH 43062, with easier short courses and challenging longer courses aimed at helping riders prepare whatever Pelotonia route they have planned.

REGISTRATION CLOSES ON JULY 9.

The first Velvet Ride was inspired when Dr. Lee Budin, co-founder of teamCOPC, joked that we should ride to Utica for ice cream in 2010. Not knowing what we were in for, we did exactly that, and the ride grew from there. Sadly, Lee became ill with the same scourge we are all riding to defeat, and in October, 2022, we lost him to pancreatic cancer. Before his passing, Lee gave his blessing to rename and dedicate the Velvet Ice Cream Ride in his honor. We are proud to do so for Lee. 

This is the 13th year for the Picnic Event, fundraiser and ride extravaganza, all under the amazing leadership of Kim Beery. Many route options will range from approximately 16-90 miles. The longest two routes visit the Velvet Ice Cream Mill  in Utica, but there will be ice cream at the end for all to enjoy. 

Please sign up in the TICKETS link (https://teamcopc.wixsite.com/2025/velvet-ice-cream-ride) to volunteer or ride. Family members, friends and other non-riders may register for just the picnic from 10 am-4 pm at the Licking Heights Middle School. .  Riders do not need to register for the picnic - that is included!

Many volunteers are needed for this event, so if you'd like to help, you will be compensated with a Pelotonia donation to be directed to the rider of your choice.
