- **Event Name**: 2026 Field Day
- **Event Start and End Date**: Fri, 26 Jun, 2026 at 11:00 am
- **Event Description**: ?Fellow PRARC Members and Friends,

In just a few days, we'll do what amateur radio operators have done for more than 90 years: head into the field, build a station from nothing, and prove we can communicate with the world under any conditions. This is Field Day — and this year, we answer as W6R.

Our home for the weekend is the Estrella Warbird Museum, in the adjacent field — a fitting place to set up among the aircraft and history.

Our tentative schedule is set, and there is truly something for everyone:

▶️FRIDAY, JUNE 26 — WE BUILD
Site build-up begins at 11:00 AM with our safety briefing — "Remember: Safety Is No Accident." Through the afternoon we'll raise antennas, set stations, and bring our power grid to life. At 5:00 PM, the club treats the crew to pizza, and we close the evening with system checkouts. Whether you've built a hundred stations or never driven a ground stake, there's a job for you — and no better classroom than Friday afternoon.

▶️SATURDAY, JUNE 27 — WE'RE ON THE AIR
After final checks and our second-day safety briefing, Field Day officially begins at 11:00 AM, and W6R takes to the airwaves as 2A Santa Barbara. Saturday also kicks off our Second Annual Trunk Fest, and at 1:00 PM, Ham Radio Camp opens with a Fox Hunt and a Morse code simulator — bring your family, bring your friends, bring your curiosity. At 5:00 PM we host License Examinations for all grades — Technician, General, and Extra — so come test in the field and walk away upgraded. The PRARC Chef Corps opens the chow hall at 6:00 PM, and at 9:00 PM we gather under the stars for our Ham Radio Film Fest, featuring Contact or Frequency.

▶️SUNDAY, JUNE 28 — WE FINISH STRONG
The Chef Corps has breakfast ready at 7:00 AM for the final stretch. Field Day concludes at 11:00 AM, and then comes the part where every pair of hands matters most: tear-down. We wrap our Field Day endeavor by 3:00 PM, tired, sunburned, and proud.

?A few practical notes: please bring work gloves, steel-toed boots, and a sunshade hat if you're helping with build-up or tear-down. Pack snacks, soft drinks, a personal chair, and sunscreen. And remember — this schedule is flexible and approximate, as all good field operations are.

Field Day isn't about the points. It's about what happens when this club stands shoulder to shoulder in a field and makes radio happen. New Technician or seasoned Extra — you belong out there with us.

See you in the field.

73,
☢️PRARC Winter/Summer Field Day Coordinator
