By doing the impossible–adopting 77 children–this East Texas community proved that, with real, determined love, the battle for America’s most vulnerable can be won.76 kids were adopted between 1998-2000. Another was adopted in 2011. The Martins have 2 biological children and adopted 4 during this time period. This act ignited a national movement for vulnerable children that continues today.The movie is rated PG-13. Why fight for orphaned and vulnerable children?As Christians, we were orphaned but adopted into God’s family. Adoption is at the very heart of God. James 1:27 says, “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. ” While Psalm 68:5 shares, “Father to the fatherless, defender of widows—this is God, whose dwelling is holy.”
