- **Event Description**: Filipino Martial Arts World Festival was organized to promote the art worldwide; introduce
and upgrade the knowledge of every practitioner through intensive training from different
internationally known and high calibre FMA Instructors in one event.

Originally conceptualized through the initiative and dedication of key people, Grand
Master Dieter Knuettel and Alfred Plath of Deutscher Arnis Verband, Germany the First
and Second Festivals both held in Germany were success. The success of these events gave
an awareness to all practitioners the possibility of getting together arnisadors worldwide.
After witnessing the success of the second season, Grand Master Samuel “Bambit” Dulay
became the bridge between two organization the Deutscher Arnis Verband, Germany and
the International Modern Arnis Federation, Inc. Philippines, to bring the Filipino Martial
Arts Festival to its homeland. It was then through mutual understanding and interest of
both parties, the FMA Festival was born in the Philippines on its 3rd Season in 2006. Grand
Master Rene Tongson appointed as the Chairman of the event, the 3rd FMA Festival was
held in Tagaytay City, Philippines with the key working team of IMAFP lead by the late
Chairman, Atty. Buddy Demaisip. First time organizing an international event, lot of
challenges encountered and with the perseverance of the team, the 3rd FMA Festival
became the learning point of improvement from then onwards.


The main goal of the event, is to give an opportunity to local and foreign grandmasters/
masters to showcase their expertise with the local and foreign practitioners, explore the
beauty of the Island and experience the Filipino culture and understand the deeper roots
of the art in one event.
