The World Cup in Orléans, France in April/May 2026 will be the first in 8 years to invite all genders to the track. This tournament less than two months before is a great chance to get a feeling of the strength of some of the central European competitors. Unable to go to World Cup? *What is the Kalmar Union? In the wake of plague, injuries and internal strife, the whole Nordics were left with just one heir in the late 1300s. With the Hansa League pushing from the south, the Kalmar Union was born in 1397. The Nordic countries were de facto ruled for over 20 years by the very first queen regent in European history, Queen Margrete. The situation for open-gender roller derby in the Nordics is in some ways similar, and so the Kalmar Union Roller Derby was born 💛❤️
