Meet at 9am at Snug Harbour Marina, 138 Snug Harbour Road, Carling, Ontario.
We will spend the entire day cruising the Georgian Bay 30 000 Islands. Thanks to Georgian Bay Tours for being our charter for the day.
We will also cruise the McCoy Island Chain in which we will stop at Big McCoy where there are washrooms. Here we will have lunch as well.
The Limestone Islands Provincial Park does not permit the public access during the breeding season. We have special permission from the Park Superintendant to set foot on the Island. It should be said we will excersize the very highest level of birding etiquette and we will not disturb the nesting colonies.
The North Island has a nesting colony of thousands of Common Terns. We will cruise by close to shore and have great views but we will not set foot on this Island sonas to not disturb the colony. The North Island also has an active Bald Eagle nest which we will get fantastic views.
The South Island we have special permission to step foot on. This Island has nesting colonies of American Herring Gull, Ring Billed Gull, Caspian Tern and Black Crowned Night Heron.
On both Islands we can expect to see large numbers of North bound migrating shorebirds. On the 2024 trip we saw Least Sandpiper, White Rumped Sandpiper and a Marbled Godwit.
There are only 9 spots open for this event. Last year we had a waiting list so this year I have chartered this trip for both Saturday June 13th and Sunday June the 14th. Cost per person is 275.00 each, please declare which date you are registering for. Payment can be made via e transfer to
