- **Event Description**: Join us for a leisurely walk through Crooked River Preserve as we look for local wildlife and learn about land conservation!About this EventJoin us for a naturalist-guided walk at one of Manatee County's newest conservation properties, Crooked River Preserve, as we look for local wildlife and learn about land conservation. We will explore the preserve at a leisurely pace, stopping to observe and identify plants and animals as we walk. Participants will learn how land managers, communities, and conservationists are working to protect natural areas like Crooked River Preserve in southwest Florida.This program is suitable for all ages. Participants under 16 must attend with a parent or guardian.Participants should bring a water bottle and wear clothing appropriate for the weather. We recommend sun protection, bug spray, and closed-toe shoes; no flip-flops. Please note there are no restrooms or water fountains on site. Crooked River Preserve is undergoing active habitat restoration and visitor amenity development. It is currently open for walk-through access only. Parking is available along the shoulder of Lyntnor Road. The trail system is not yet fully developed, and we will be walking off-trail through areas with uneven terrain and tall grasses. Some places will be shady, and others will be fully exposed.This program is provided in partnership with the Manatee County Natural Resources Department.Your gift of $5 or more per person will help us save wild places and continue to engage people in nature.
