This means a local entry point to the national competition, 2-minute poem time limits, 20 spots max, number scoring and a prize! Poets Run This! Have you ever wanted to change the world with your words? By throwing your ideas into the slam-storm, you could be chosen as the 2026 Australian Poetry Slam-bassador and offered an international writers’ festival tour worth about $20K. The audience will send two poets to represent Parramatta in the Sydney Final. The top 16 in the country make it to the National Final at Sydney Opera House on the 25th of October. Their poetry collection “i love you in the most platonic way possible” was published with Illographo Press in 2024. They’ve had work in places such as the Australian Poetry Journal and Frankie Press, and in 2025 BEA won the Blacktown City Council Mayoral Creative Writing Prize for poetry. Beyond the page, BEA has won various medals at Bankstown Poetry Slam’s Grand Slam and National Youth Poetry Slam. Raised in Mount Druitt, BEA is passionate about connecting with and supporting young Western Sydney creatives.
