West Side Poetry Slam is a monthly open mic night where you can sign up on the night and perform an original piece of writing to open minds, hearts, and arms. Audience members score with a fun line of feedback and you could win a support feature slot at the next slam. Other performance art forms are also welcome. Anything can be poetry. 

FEATURE - Albert Lin

Albert Lin is a spoken-word poet, musician, general jack-of-all-trades, and person with a day job. He doesn’t take himself very seriously, and thinks the same of his work. He finds poetry to be a way of expressing and articulating things, and considers his own to be a series of love letters to the world, himself, and everything else. Albert has created hour-long theatrical poetry shows, had his work displayed in art exhibits, and has performed in and out of Sydney in various contexts, including at the Melbourne Fringe Festival, Everything But the Kitchen Sink Festival, and the Butterfly Club.


SUPPORT FEATURE - Sneha Sobti

Sneha Sobti (she/her) is a poet, educator, and storyteller whose work is rooted in lived experience as a first‑generation queer migrant woman with Punjabi lineage shaped by a refugee family history from the India-Pakistan partition. Her decolonial storytelling traces the quiet ways change takes shape - through language, care, accessibility, and community. 

She curates spaces of connection and healing, empowering people to lead joyful, grounded lives. Sneha has shaped inclusive initiatives and been invited to share her work - and her voice - with organisations including the United Nations Association of Australia.

6:40pm - Doors Open & Poet Sign-Up (3 min time limit!)
7:00pm - Event Starts

Parramatta Leagues Club (Level 3), 1 Eels Pl, Parramatta NSW 2150.
Free parking and it's a 6min bus from Parra station.
As it's a club DON'T FORGET YOUR PHOTO ID so you can sign in!
IF YOU'RE UNDER 18 you must be accompanied by a responsible adult. If you aren't planning on coming with an adult please message us and we can sign in with you.
