Mon 13, 20, 27, May 4, 6-9pm - **Event Start and End Date**: Thu, 09 Apr, 2026 at 06:00 pm – Thu, 09 Apr, 2026 at 09:00 pm (+10:00) - **Event Description**: A four -part group program for LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans..) clients who are birthing their baby at the RWH, VIC.About this EventRoyal Women’s Hospital in Parkville, provides childbirth and early parenting education, specifically for those who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual, or a person otherwise diverse in gender, sexual oreintation. and/or sex characteristcs) community, together with their support circle and are birthing at our hospital.This program will be facilitated by a midwife who proudly identifies as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.The four sessions that run from 6:00-9:00 pm will each cover a specific range of topics.For example:Safe Community ConnectionHealth care Rights/Culturally safe careProgress of labour and birthSupport in labourPractical coping methods during labourMedical options for pain managementMedical assistance for birthCommunicating with your babyUnderstanding breastfeeding and chest feedingNavigating early parenting challengesCommunity supportsAs part of the LGBTQIA+ community, if you book into this program, you do not need to book another chidlbirth education program with the Women's.Booking tips:· Places are limited so book your spot as soon as possible.· These programs will be conducted 3-4 times per year.· Use the name of the pregnant person when you book.· You must provide your Royal Womens Hospital, Melbourne Medical Record Number, as we will check that you are booked to have your baby at the Women’s.· A confirmation email will be sent by Eventbrite after booking.Payments and RefundsONE ticket is valid for the pregnant person and their immediate support circle.Medicare Card Ticket - Free when the pregnant person:is booked to birth as a public patient at the Womens hospital, Victoriahas a valid Medicare card (or eligible for reciprical rights)Non Medicare Card Ticket - $450.00 when the person:is booked to birth as a private patient at the Womens hospital, Victoriahas no valid Medicare Card or reciprical rightsThe fee is refundable if you cancel at least one week prior to the first class. Some private health funds may provide a rebate for the program, however, it is up to the participant to check with their own health fund.Need to cancel or reschedule?· If you need to reschedule, please CANCEL your booking on the Eventbrite website, and then rebook into another course. PLEASE remember to cancel to allow somebody else to take your spot.. If your pregnancy care is transferred to another hospital or health care provider you are no longer eligible to attend.
