- **Event Description**: Learn about cultural humility and practical skills to better support survivors facing intersectional racism and misogyny.About this EventThis workshop will highlight the histories of racialized gendered violence that survivors of color face in the US and how service providers can meet these intersectional experiences with cultural humility: a lifelong commitment and practice in continuous self-education of cultures and experiences other than our own. We will dive deep into how Black, Asian, Indigenous, Latine, Muslim, and immigrant women in the US are impacted by misogyny and racism at institutional and interpersonal levels. Participants will gain knowledge in best service practices through hands-on scenario practice and practical insight into serving diverse clients.This free in-person event is appropriate for social service professionals and includes 2.0 free CE clock hours for social workers, professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, and nurses. Continental breakfast will be available from 8:30-9:00 am. Advance registration is requested as seating for this event is limited.Attendees are encouraged to bring personal hygiene products (soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, etc.), paper products, or diapers to donate to the Maine Township Food Pantry.Presenter BiosMalien Tingpalpong is the Education and Outreach Coordinator at KAN-WIN. Malien coordinates educational trainings for students, service providers, and other advocates, and conducts community outreach efforts to spread awareness of gender-based violence issues. KAN-WIN is a community organization that works to eradicate gender-based violence through comprehensive, survivor-centered services, education, and outreach. KAN-WIN’s vision is of healthy and safe communities free of violence and oppression.This program is recognized by IDFPR as providing CE clock hours for LPC/LCPC and LSW/LCSW under license number 159.001334, LMFT under license number 168.000223, LCP under license number 268.000070, and RN/LPN/APN under license number 236.000127.
