- **Event Description**: On October 18, 1775, four British ships fired 3000 projectiles into the town of Falmouth Massachusetts, which is now Portland Maine, burning over 400 buildings.  Outrage roared through rebelling New England and throughout the communities along the East Coast of the English colonies.  This act, and similar others, were cited in the Declaration of Independence as one of the reasons for the colonies to declare their separation from the British Empire. 
Join John Phillips on Wednesday, June 10th, at 6:30 pm, to learn about this pivotal event in American history and the actions leading up to it.
Mr. Phillips earned a Master's Degree in American History from the University of Maine at Orono and taught at Kaplan University for ten years. 
This program is being presented by the Paris Public Library as part of its "Revolutionary Summer" activities.
