Pour la première fois en France, le légendaire producteur, compositeur et batteur américain de jazz funk, Norman Connors, se produira à Paris avec son mythique Starship Orchestra pour célébrer les 50 ans de l'album culte "You Are My Starship". Pour cet anniversaire exceptionnel, il sera accompagné de prestigieux musiciens ayant joué avec Prince, Diana Ross, Angela Bofill. Une soirée incontournable, placée sous le signe du groove, de l'élégance et de l'héritage soul jazz, pour célébrer un repertoire intemporel.

Originaire de Philadelphie, Norman Connors débute aux côtés de géants du jazz tels que John Coltrane, Archie Shepp et Pharoah Sanders avant de lancer sa carrière solo avec Dance of Magic en 1972.

Deux ans plus tard, chez Buddah Records - où il officie également comme directeur artistique - il connaît un succès retentissant avec « Valentine Love », « We Both Need Each Other » et l'intemporel You Are My Starship. Découvreur de talents, il lança la carrière de grandes voix du jazz, de la soul et du disco qui enregistrèrent souvent et d'abord sur ses albums. On pense à Dee Dee Bridgewater, Phyllis Hyman, Jean Carne et Michael Henderson.

Son catalogue regorge de classiques rare groove et jazz funk devenus cultes (Mother Of The Future, Captain Connors, Phoenix, Stella, Look Ahead, Say you love me, Be there in the morning, Once I've been there), aussi bien samplés par le hip hop et la house. Sa carrière l'a vu collaborer avec des figures majeures comme Herbie Hancock, Stanley Clarke, Bobby Lyle, Hubert Laws, Gary Bartz ou encore Freddie Hubbard.
