In this environment, the notion of fairness is particularly sensitive.What is fair? Can we apply the same criteria in the family and the business? Our research at INSEAD suggests to focus on the equity of the process through which decisions are taken (« Fair Process ») - this allows to explain many situations and outcomes.Using anonymised mini-cases and real-life examples, the workshop will review the specific dynamics of family firms, the notion of Fair Process, and how advisers can foster Fair Process in family enterprises. is an educator, adviser, and former board member of family enterprises. She started in the field in 1997, helping launch what is now know as the Wendel International Centre for Family Enterprises at INSEAD. Founder and Adviser, FamilyGovernance, Programme Director and Lecturer, INSEAD. A specialist in family businesses since 1997, Christine Blondel began by coordinating INSEAD's activities in this field, initiated by the Wendel family and company. She was Executive Director of the Wendel International Centre for Family Business. She uses Fair Process principles to advise family firms on issues of transmission and governance, teaches at INSEAD and is regularly invited by other business schools. She was a Board member in several family enterprises, associations and foundations. She received the « Interdisciplinary Achievement Award » from the Family Firm Institute in 2017, and was listed in the top 25 academics by Family Capital in December 2024. She is an alumna from INSEAD (MBA, Negotiation and Governance programmes), Ecole Polytechnique France (Ms. Sc.), and Procter & Gamble (Marketing and Finance).
