A free, hands-on workshop exploring beneficial fire as a tool for stewardship, safety, and healing:
🔥 Indigenous Cultural Fire — He-Lo Ramirez (BCCER) will cover how California Indians have used fire since time immemorial to care for ecosystems and communities as well as ecological and cultural benefits of intentional fire.
🔥 Prescribed Fire in Practice — David Mitchell (Butte County RCD) will explore fire behavior, safety, and prescribed burning techniques as well as offer opportunities to participate in a microcasting demonstration and get hands-on experience with live fire.
🔥 Pyrotherapy (Fire Therapy) — Blake Ellis, ASW (BCCER), whose work was recently featured in Atmos, will use storytelling, grounding, mindfulness and nature-based practices to help reimagine our relationship with fire and address wildfire trauma.
🌮 We’ll wrap up with tamales and refreshments over the fire.
