What this workshop will cover
Choose to create a beautiful Coastal textile heart or pretty summer countryside heart in this lovely
follow on freemotion embroidery workshop. With full templates the process of creating your
artwork is broken down into easy step by step instructions throughout the day. This workshop is
perfect for those who have some experience of freemotion embroidery or who have completed the
beginners freemotion workshop previously. You will be taught all the skills needed to make the
most out of this fantastic technique and leave the workshop with the knowledge and ability to
continue with your own designs in the future, bring along your own choice of fabrics to create a
piece that suits your own taste, (heart measures approximately 18x23cm)
Who is this workshop for
This is a great workshop for anyone who has some experience with freemotion embroidery or has completed a beginners level freemotion embroidery.
Who is your tutor
This workshop is taught by Caroline Michelle who is a local textile artist specialising in freemotion embroidery.
What you need to bring
Templates are supplied as well as tracing paper, but you will need to bring the following materials
and equipment with you:
Sewing Machine, please bring your extra wide table for your machine if you have one
(helpful but not essential), also don’t forget your foot pedal and cable.
Freemotion embroidery foot
FABRIC A – Patterned backing fabric of your choice for the main part of the heart (no smaller
than 30x45cm)
FABRIC B – Light coloured plain fabric for the heart insert, something that coordinates with
fabric A (no smaller than 20x18cm)
A variety of fabric scraps to produce the raw edge applique artwork in the centre.
Ribbon (about 35cm)
Piece of plain felt, this can be white or something that coordinates with fabric A (about
25x30cm).
A small amount of stuffing
Black thread
Your usual sewing equipment, tweezers, scissors etc
Pencil, an erasable pen is also helpful but not essential
Bondaweb
Other information you need to know
All workshops are run at LilyBoo, Lostwithiel on the upstairs floor. There is a steep flight of stairs up to the workshop area but once there you will have everything you need, from a small kitchen for tea and coffee along with a bathroom. The workshops at LilyBoo have bought together people for a chat, to learn something new and there is always lots of laughter.
