Sunday Dance happens on the third Sunday of every month!
Led by Amber unless noted otherwise.
"Ecstatic-style dance" honors the roots of this dance practice in the work of Gabrielle Roth, author of "Sweat Your Prayers", while acknowledging this dance may not fulfill all expectations associated with Ecstatic Dance. This is a self-guided dance practice in a facilitated space. Facilitators will not be speaking during the music. This space is intended as a crucible for cultivating connection with our bodies. It does not have to look like dance, nor does it have to be "ecstatic."
Come as you are.
Intention words are:
Play
Respect
Acceptance
Yes! to heart's truth (true yes requires honoring true no)
Embodiment (as a practice and process)
Responsibility
Sovereignty
Arrive at 1 PM to warm up, stretch, and gently settle into the space. Opening circle starts 10-15 minutes in and we will gather for a closing circle after about an hour of music: an eclectic recorded "wave" soundscape provided to inspire and shape our movement journey. While it is highly encouraged to be present for opening and closing circles, arriving late or leaving early is better than not coming at all.
Please let's consider this a sacred space: leave street shoes and verbal conversations at the door. For use of the outdoor area, please be respectful of the private residence and Paonia Laundromat patrons.
All humans are welcome! Age 12 and under please bring an adult with you. We do not have childcare at this time, so adults please be responsible for your little ones.
Please bring water! (non-glass or protected glass water bottles)
Tap water is available.
$5-$20 is the usual requested exchange. (10-15 regular, 16-20 supporting, 5-9 low income, students, seniors and teens. 16 and under no charge.)
Come for your first dance free.
