COMET™ (Changing Our Mental and Emotional Trajectory) teaches people how to intervene when they encounter someone who is in a “vulnerable space” and help shift the person’s mental health trajectory back to a place of wellness instead of proceeding towards a mental health crisis.

Unlike other mental health and wellness trainings, COMET™ trainings are designed specifically for rural communities.

In rural communities, people tend to help each other and rely less on public services, often because those services are limited or unavailable. COMET™ aligns with the rural cultural value of neighbors helping neighbors. COMET™ empowers neighbors and community members to be more prepared to support others’ mental health needs, especially before a crisis occurs. However, COMET™ does not ask community members to “be the fix.” Instead, this program trains community members to initiate a supportive interaction for a potentially emotional conversation by using a straightforward, conversational framework. 

Please join us for this training and conversation! 

We will convene at Mariposa at 5:00 pm for potluck snacks, and begin the training at 5:30 pm. 

Preregistration required in order to attend; last day to register is October 16. This event is capped at 15 participants.

Suggested donation $10-$20, no-one turned away for lack of funds.  

We hope to hold a viewing of the film "Legacy" leading up to this COMET training: stay tuned for details.
