You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown Auditions
November 24th, 6:30pm, Mainstage Auditorium
**A Dance Workshop will take place in preparation for the auditions on November 18th, at 6:30pm in the Wellness Center***
Auditions are open to all, majors, non-majors, and the public.
Please prepare a SONG & MONOLOGUE
Everyone will be seen in the order they arrive and check-in.
1. Prepare a 16-32 bar cut (no more than 2 minutes please) of a musical theatre song in the style of the show. Bring your sheet music, (properly marked with start and stop) and in a binder or folder for the accompanist. When choosing a cut, show your best vocal range and comedic ability in your song.
2. Prepare 1 short monologue.
3. You may be asked to stay for a dance callback.
4. Callbacks will take place Tuesday, Nov 25th.

Starting February 2nd: Monday – Thursday 4:30pm – 7:30pm (No weekend rehearsals, and no rehearsals over Spring Break)
Tech Week:
April 6th-9th from 5:00-9:00pm.

Character Breakdown:
Charlie Brown: The central character of the musical, Charlie Brown is an everyman.
Despite being seen as a loser by his peers, he is optimistic and determined. He is kind,
gentle, and has a big heart. Vocal Range: Tenor (Bb2-F4)
Sally Brown: Charlie Brown's younger sister who is sweet and innocent but can be selfcentered, skeptical, and absurdly intense. She has a crush on Linus and often
misinterprets his kindness. Vocal Range: Soprano (Bb3-A5)
Snoopy: Charlie Brown's imaginative and lively pet beagle. Snoopy has a wild
imagination, loves to daydream, and lives in his own fantasy world. Despite his quirks, he
is very loyal to Charlie Brown. Vocal Range: Tenor or Alto (C3-A4)
Note: This can be a female, male, or non-binary actor who must fit the vocal
range and can portray a dog. Physicality & dance experience helpful but not required.
Lucy Van Pelt: A bossy, crabby, self-important girl who often bullies others, especially
Charlie Brown and her brother Linus, in a misguided attempt to help. Despite her tough
exterior, she has moments of compassion, vulnerability, and insight. Vocal Range: Alto (G3-F5)
Linus Van Pelt: Lucy’s younger brother, who is intelligent and philosophical despite his
young age. He is almost never seen without his security blanket. He provides a lot of
the show’s wisdom. Vocal Range: Baritone (Bb2-E4)
Tap, soft shoes, or ballroom experience helpful but not required.
Schroeder: A piano-playing prodigy who is obsessed with Beethoven. He is the object
of Lucy’s affection, although he usually ignores her advances to focus on his music. Tenor (Bb2-Ab4) Piano experience helpful but not required.
Ensemble: Several actors may be cast in an optional ensemble and in swing roles. Ensemble characters such as Peppermint Patty, Marcie, Shermy, Franklin, Woodstock, and/or others from the Peanuts gang may be cast and included throughout the musical. Their vocal ranges can be varied within the ranges provided for the main characters to ensure a balanced sound.
Peppermint Patty (Optional Ensemble): A freckle-faced tomboy who is tough, kind, and gets a D- on every school assignment. She loves Charlie Brown and calls him 'Chuck'. Paty is the leader of a baseball team and Charlie Brown's rival manager.
Marcie (Optional Ensemble) Generally goodhearted, Marcie is intelligent and terrible at sports. She calls Peppermint Paty “Sir” (which Paty hates) and has a crush on Charlie Brown.
Shermy (Optional Ensemble) Easy-going and pleasant, Shermy is great at all the things that mater to Charlie Brown, especially sports.
Franklin (Optional Ensemble) The first Black character to appear in “Peanuts”. He is a voice of reason with a rational perspective compared to almost every other character's fears and flaws.
Woodstock (Optional Ensemble) Snoopy’s good-hearted little bird buddy-best-friend. Woodstock is loyal, intelligent, and physically and verbally expressive.
