Bamboozled at South Coast Botanic Garden

Discovery is taking flight at the Garden with Bamboozled: An Unexpected Bamboo Adventure. This brand-new exhibit features eight monumental bird sculptures made from bamboo, each with a unique personality and story to tell. These larger-than-life creations have been designed to be interacted with, and are the work of renowned artist duo Donna Dodson and Andy Moerlein, known collectively as The Myth Makers. But Bamboozled is far more than an art exhibit, it transforms the Garden’s 87 acres into a whimsical, interactive scavenger hunt. Guests will follow the clatter of bamboo wind chimes as they search for each sculpture, which are tucked throughout the Garden’s stunning landscape.

About The Myth Makers: The Myth Makers is a collaborative duo of Donna Dodson and Andy Moerlein, known for their striking site-specific environmental sculptures. Together they create large-scale, site-specific sculptures using bamboo and reclaimed materials. Inspired by nature and rooted in traditional techniques learned in Taiwan, their sustainable, temporary works have appeared in 18 U.S. states and abroad. Dodson is drawn to the mystery of birds; Moerlein to nature’s dramatic, visual stories.
