The youngest son of the legendary Sarod maestro, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, he grew up listening to his father in countless concerts and attending his classes at theesteemed Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael, CA. He initially studied Tabla under the guidance of Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, but the greater call to follow in the footsteps of his family brought Manik, at the age of 13, to formally train on the Sarod with his father. He spent his formative years accompanying his father on stage, touring for the last decade of his father's extensive and iconic performance career. Manik's own solo career has brought him throughout India, South America, and the U.S. Manik has had the honor and privilege of performing alongside some of India’s greatest tabla masters, including Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, Pandit Tanmoy Bose, Pandit Yogesh Samsi, and Pandit Bickram Ghosh. As a musician committed to tradition and innovation, Manik Khan actively collaborates with musicians and ensembles to present his rich legacy of Hindustani classical music toboth seasoned enthusiasts and newer audiences. His dedication extends to educational initiatives, where he partners with Bay Area schools to introduce Indian Classical Music to youth orchestras, nurturing the next generation of musicians.Eman HashimiEman Hashimi, one of today’s most sought-after Afghan percussionists, is widely recognized as the future of Afghan tabla. Born into the celebrated Hashimi musical family of Kabul’s historic Kharabat quarter, he is the son of legendary maestro Ustad Toryalai Hashimi, a pioneer of Afghan tabla.A child prodigy, Eman gave his first concert at age nine alongside his father, later studying under the world-renowned Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, with whom he became one of the youngest tabla players to perform in duet. His artistry bridges Afghan classical and folk traditions with the Punjab Gharana style of tabla, creating a sound that is both deeply rooted and globally resonant.Eman has performed at the Kennedy Center, San Francisco World Music Festival, Yerba Buena Gardens Festival, and beyond, collaborating across genres from Afghan and Indian classical music to jazz, folk, and world traditions.
