Are you looking for a local mountain biking skills class to learn more about trail riding? You found it! If you are a rider that enjoys rolling around the neighborhood and would like to take your riding to the next level, this is where you belong. You will learn and practice basic mountain biking skills necessary to navigate the trail system at Pleasant Grove Park. The skills covered include body position, shifting, braking, bike maintenance, and dealing with minor obstacles. We will also talk about trail user communication and trail etiquette. Every session will finish with a friendly group ride!
You are welcome to bring your own trail ready bike or Fluvanna County Parks and Recreation can provide bikes and helmets. Schedule a tune up or a bike fitting by calling the Parks and Recreation Trail Line at 434-995-0315.
Session 1: March 7 - Braking, shifting, body separation, descending and ascending
Session 2: March 14 - Changing a flat tire
Session 3: March 21 - Cornering, steering, pedal efficiency, climbing seated and standing
Session 4: March 28 - Lubrication, derailleur adjustments, obstacle maneuvering
