You’ll learn how to read and understand your watercolour paint tubes, including pigment information, transparency, opacity, staining qualities, and why these details matter. Through guided exercises, you’ll create your own colour wheels, explore the difference between warm and cool colours, and discover how colour temperature can shift the mood and depth of a painting.


You’ll also be introduced to glazing techniques and layering transparent washes to create luminous colour effects. Looking at how artists use warm and cool tones in their work, you’ll then experiment with your own loose, expressive colour-based artworks that focus on play, observation, and creative exploration.


Working with artist-quality materials and the rich colours of Daniel Smith paints, this workshop is designed to be inspiring, informative, and full of beautiful colour discoveries.
