Before the films, hear from Laurie Cairns, who has witnessed first-hand how Antarctica has changed over 25 years, in the work, the technology, and the people. Laurie made four trips “down to the ice” as a surveyor, spanning summer field seasons 1971–72, 1972–73, 1982–83, and 1996, working in places like the Dry Valleys, the Ice Shelf, and Cape Adare. From dogs and helicopters to icebreakers (and plenty of memorable Antarctic characters), Laurie will share stories from a remarkable life at the bottom of the world.
