Paul has been p[laying and teaching music around Palmerston North for quite a few years now and infact he has been a fixture on the music scene for just about as long as I can remember. He has been to many of our gigs but I think this will be the first time he has played at the club. It will be great to see Paul and Peter Reunited live after so many years. Peter has certainly carved himself out a stunning career so it will be great to see him on stage with Paul. Long-time musical collaborators Paul Dredge and Peter Pascoe are set to reunite for a rare live performance, bringing their decades-long creative partnership to the Hokowhitu Bowling Club in Palmerston North. Paul Dredge, a musician since early childhood, began performing professionally at just 12 years old, playing drums in his father’s band. His musical journey has been shaped by an eclectic mix of jazz, folk-rock, and country. Paul is a multi-instrumentalist and has spent many years on stage, performing extensively with Peter Pascoe, and with musicians such as Bullfrog Rata and Midge Marsden. Peter Pascoe has been a professional pianist and singer since he was 17. A formative year in the USA, as an exchange student (including winning ‘The Stars Of Tomorrow’ talent contest) helped him on his way to composing 800 songs, producing 15 album (piano solo, rock and folk rock). Pete and Paul began performing together when they were in their teens and were a fixture for many years at the ‘London Park Café’ in Palmerston North, in the early 90s. For the past 25 years, Paul has combined a successful career in music education with regular Jazz and Blues performances—both with his trio and in collaborations featuring his daughter, Emma, on vocals. Meanwhile, Peter Pascoe has spent almost three decades in Melbourne, where he has carved out his own rich creative life. A pianist, artist, teacher and songwriter, Peter leads his own band and also performs as a soloist around the city. Despite their different early musical pathways, Pete and Paul discovered early on that they shared a deep love for 70s folk-rock—a connection that continues to anchor their collaboration. Even with the Tasman Sea between them, the duo have never stopped writing and recording together. Thanks to modern technology, they’ve spent years bouncing recordings back and forth, producing many albums, including the aptly titled ‘Tasman Bridge’.
