Το Route 06 υποδέχεται το Σάββατο 24 Ιανουαρίου έναν από τους πιο αυθεντικούς και εκρηκτικούς εκπροσώπους του Chicago Blues: τον κιθαρίστα, τραγουδιστή και συνθέτη Michael Dotson, για μια βραδιά γεμάτη house-rockin’ blues, ένταση και ατόφια ενέργεια από τα κλασικά blues clubs του Σικάγου.
Γέννημα-θρέμμα του Νότιου Σικάγου, ο Dotson μεγάλωσε κυριολεκτικά μέσα στα blues bars της πόλης, μαθητεύοντας δίπλα σε θρύλους όπως οι Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells και Otis Rush. Από νεαρή ηλικία διαμόρφωσε τη δική του δυναμική ταυτότητα, παντρεύοντας το ωμό συναίσθημα με high-energy grooves και το χαρακτηριστικό Chicago-style guitar attack.
Κομβικό σημείο στην πορεία του υπήρξε η συνεργασία του με τον μυθικό Magic Slim: ο Dotson υπήρξε βασικό μέλος των Magic Slim & the Teardrops, της μπάντας που τιμήθηκε με το κορυφαίο W.C. Handy Award ως «Καλύτερη Blues Μπάντα στον Κόσμο». Route 06 proudly welcomes one of the most authentic and electrifying representatives of Chicago Blues, guitarist, singer and songwriter Michael Dotson, for a powerful night of house-rockin’ blues filled with raw energy, passion and the true spirit of Chicago’s legendary blues clubs, on Saturday, January 24.
Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, Dotson grew up immersed in the city’s blues bar scene, witnessing legends such as Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells and Otis Rush firsthand. From an early age, he forged his own explosive style, blending raw emotion, high-energy grooves and the unmistakable Chicago-style guitar attack.
A defining chapter in his career was his collaboration with the legendary Magic Slim. Dotson was a key member of Magic Slim & the Teardrops, the band that earned the prestigious W.C. Handy Award as “Best Blues Band in the World.” He has also worked alongside major blues figures including Aron Burton, Big Jack Johnson, Big Time Sarah, Jimmy Burns and Willie Kent, establishing himself as one of the most powerful guitarists of the contemporary blues scene.
As a solo artist, he has released two acclaimed albums, Lightning in My Pocket (2006) and A Fork in the Road (2010) — pure Chicago blues packed with shuffle, boogie and fiery riffs. In recent years, he has been a core member of the award-winning Mississippi Heat, touring extensively across Europe and the United States.
