Join us as we steam our way to Taihape, the Gumboot Capital of the World, for one of the most iconic and entertaining days on the Kiwi calendar. Saturday 11th April Only!

Hauled by Ab 608 “Passchendaele”, this heritage journey takes in the spectacular scenery of the North Island Main Trunk — including the stunning Rangitīkei viaducts — before arriving right in the heart of the Gumboot Day festivities.
Expect a fantastic day of small-town charm, live entertainment, markets, and of course, the famous gumboot throwing competition — all wrapped around a classic steam-hauled rail experience.
This is a joint venture between two passionate heritage rail organisations, and we’re proud to be working together to bring something special to the region.
