Join us for Compass & Maps 101, a hands-on class designed to give you the confidence to navigate the outdoors the right way. In this session, we’ll break down the essential parts of a compass—like the baseplate, bezel, direction-of-travel arrow, and orienting lines—so you fully understand how your tool works before you ever hit the trail. From there, we’ll dive into reading a topographic map, understanding contour lines, symbols, scale, and how terrain is represented on paper. Finally, you’ll learn practical skills for pinpointing your exact location on a map using bearings and terrain features, so you’re never guessing where you are. Whether you’re hiking, hunting, or just want to sharpen your outdoor skills, this class will give you real-world navigation confidence you can rely on.
